After 1993’s March for Equality in DC, a group of people in Tallahassee worked together to start Community News, a newspaper to provide news, information, opinion, and fun for the LGBTQ+ community in North Florida. Community News grew to be the largest LGBTQ+ newspaper in Florida and served the LGBTQ+ community and its allies in North Florida, South Georgia, and South Alabama.

During those first years I was Community News’ editor. As I moved from Florida to DC and now to Colorado, I held on to physical copies of editions for which I played and part. I’m excited to share PDF copies of these editions so that folks can have a peek at the history of our community and its allies – and see how far we’ve come, as well as how far we still need to go.

There were a lot of people involved with Community News over the years and you can find their names as you read the pages found in this archive. I don’t now how often I’ll have the time convert newsprint to PDF, but when I have a new edition ready, I’ll make an announcement through my s ocial media channels.
